MOTIVATION

Internet & Affiliate Marketing: Celebrate The Small Victories

By Daniel Detlaf

Most internet marketing ventures start as one-man operations. When mistakes are made, you know who to blame. But don't just beat yourself up, remember that when progress is made, that was all you too. Celebrate the small victories.

When you are just starting in internet marketing, keeping a positive mindset can be a crucial ingredient of long term survival. On or off the web, most new businesses do not become profitable immediately. Sales can be mediocre as your marketing campaign gets going, and if you didn't plan ahead for this fallow period you may begrudge the out-of-pocket expenses that arise. It is easy to get discouraged.

Worse, many marketers lack basic support and encouragement. In a normal workplace there are other employees to share the load and help solve problems. Not so for most start-ups, and your personal support network may lack enthusiasm. Your friends may think you're a sucker involved with some newfangled scam. Your family may worry that your seemingly unprofitable internet career is interfering with your day job.

You must remember that you are your own manager, and good managers care about their employees' morale and motivation. Notice and enjoy the small milestones in your business as they pass by, whether it is finally getting your web design just right or suddenly nailing the top search position on a good keyword. Reward yourself with a day off or a good meal. Tell your friends about it even if their eyes glaze over; you listen to their stories about their dull jobs, right?

Verbalizing your success is for your own benefit, and it can help you assess your accomplishments and know when you've made real progress along your business plan. Don't commit the common mistake of neglecting the hardest working, most under-appreciated person in your employ - yourself.

Beware the Shark Infested Waters of Ebay: Ebay Fraud Run Amok

by: Brad Eden

Fake items abound on eBay, and it takes much effort not to be duped by scammers who peddle these wares. There have been many painful stories relating how a seemingly legitimate item turned out to be either fake or defective.

It is possible, however, to avoid these scams if one is careful and vigilant. Buyers should be wary of any purchase over eBay, and should take steps to ensure the authenticity of the item and to make sure the item is in reasonable condition.

Be Vigilant

Buyers should take the initiative by doing plenty of background research. They must learn as much as possible about the products before bidding on them. If the seller provides pictures of an item, they should not be taken at face value. Comparison of these pictures with the real item helps in this regard.

Many sellers will use pictures from manufacturers that do not represent the item they are actually selling; buyers should ask the seller for actual pictures of the item. If the seller balks, buyers should refrain from bidding. Collector's items, autographed memorabilia, and historical artifacts are common items that are misrepresented on eBay.

Authenticate

Familiarize yourself with the various bodies that certify respective items. For example, reputable merchants of autographed sports memorabilia should include a COA (certificate of authenticity) from a trusted third party.
Counterfeit or misrepresented items should be reported to eBay. When buying on eBay Motors, one may have an inspection service double-check if the seller is accurately representing his automobile.

Look at the Feedback

One should analyze the feedback rating of a seller. Analyzing feedback is another helpful exercise to prevent scams. Sellers who have an established history of credible sales are usually helpful and professional to deal with. Negative feedback should be a red flag as to whether one should pursue a trade with the person. The same thing applies for those who do not have feedback ratings at all. Buyers must be careful however, since it is possible that a scammer has hijacked an account that has positive feedback.

Buyers should make sure they have read the entire product description on its eBay listing. Things to look out for are disclaimers, damages, current item condition, years of use, and others. If this information is not specified, it would do well for the buyer to contact the seller regarding such.

The Price Theory

If the price for an item is too good to be true, it probably is. Auctions that carry outrageously low prices should be taken skeptically.

AFFILIATE PROBLEM SOLVING

Pay Per Click Affiliate Marketing Technique

Christopher J

Pay per click affiliate marketing techniques that are proven effective can help you to generate greater revenue as an affiliate of a pay per click advertising program.

Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing are, at present, the major pay-per-click advertising programs that are used for the purpose of pay-per-click advertising.

It is expected that in the near future Microsoft's MSN search engine may be offering its own pay per click affiliate advertising program, but that is yet to be seen.

Pay per click affiliate opportunities sound appealing to many internet entrepreneurs because of the popularity of pay-per-click advertising programs and the nature of internet business for which there are literally numerous new websites being launched daily.

There is a lot of demand for information about pay-per-click advertising, so there is quite a bit of earnings potential for businesses that provide information and referrals as a pay per click affiliate marketer.

At present, Google doesn't have an affiliate program per se, for its pay-per-click advertising program.

What it does have is AdSense which provides great opportunities for information marketers who have content sites on which Google ads can be displayed.

Through the AdSense program, website operators can generate a significant amount of review from pay-per-click ads that are placed on their websites based on the relativity of their content to keyword phrases associated with the ads.

Google also has an AdWords referral program through which you can earn $20 for each advertiser you refer to the AdWords program.

Yahoo! Search Marketing has an affiliate program for their Yahoo! Sponsored Search program.

The affiliate program has two levels, one where you earn commission for new customer referrals and one where you actually become certified to provide training in regard to the benefits of Yahoo! Sponsored Search.

As a certified affiliate of the program, you can provide your customers with value-added services as well as earning commissions on your referrals. It is not yet known whether or not MSN will have an affiliate program for their pay-per-click services if they do in fact come to fruition.

Many affiliate programs are structured where you receive commissions on sales that result from your referrals.

Others have a flat payout that you receive for the initial referral while others pay per lead that you generate whether or not that lead results in a sale.

Generally, the commission structure for an affiliate program is preferred over a flat fee structure because a commission structure sometimes results in ongoing revenue generation from future sales; however, with products that are a one-time sale, that's usually not the case.

So, a one-time payout structure can be just as effective for affiliate marketers as the commission structures - especially when it comes to pay per click affiliate marketing, because there is always a great demand for information about pay per click advertising.

The most effective marketing technique I have to offer a per per click affiliate is the suggestion that you constantly build the prospect base to which you market your affiliate program generating new leads as new website operators enter the market and begin to seek information about pay-per-click advertising.

This can be accomplished through search engine marketing, the publication of information products such as ebooks, industry- related newsletters, or professional articles, or through email marketing once you have built an opt-in list of parties that are interested in receiving information about internet marketing.

An aggressive internet marketing campaign that is targeted to new internet entrepreneurs and new website operators is the best way to capture the attention of interested parties for the purpose of referring them to pay-per-click advertising programs.

By properly targeting your market, you will definitely increase your affiliate revenues regardless of the structure of the affiliate program.
